Club History
Knockmore G.A.A. Club was a relative latecomer to the ranks of the GAA. Established in 1958 it wasn't until 1960 that it was registered. The club claimed its first title in 1968 winning the North Mayo junior championship. Within four years an intermediate title was won before remarkably winning Senior County and provincial championships a year later!
Today the club is testament to that early sense of purpose. Since gaining our senior status in 1972 the club has never lost it, winning 9 county senior titles (2020 most recent win) and 3 senior provincial titles along the way. Since 1971 we have also won 8 Division 1 league titles.
Underage we have won divisional and county titles at all age groups in both mens and ladies codes. Our 2019 boys minor team winning Division 1 league, North Mayo and county A championships. Our ladies Minors are 2020 champions.
With our excellent playing and ancillary facilities we cater for teams from U6 to Senior in both boys and ladies football. This year the club will have 4 adult men's teams - U21, Junior C, Junior A and Senior.
The exploits of our club and its members are not just serving Knockmore but the wider G.A.A. and community as a whole. Our players have represented our club at county level in both mens and ladies codes at the different age groups up to and including senior. Cormac Reape is on the Inter-county referees’ panel. Our fundraising exploits have raised thousands not just for the club but local charities such as Mayo and Roscommon Hospice and Hope house.
As a club we are committed to promoting Gaelic Games and we are confident the club will continue to go from strength to strength both on and off the field of play in the years ahead.
